TEHRAN - UNIC Director Maria Dotsenko delivered the United Nations Secretary-General’s message on the occasion of International Women’s Day (IWD) during a ceremony on the occasion of IWD organized by Ketabraneh mobile bookstore at Allameh Tabatabaee School on 8 March 2017.
Civil society activists, artists, children, women and school teachers and school managers were among the audience.
Ms. Sarvenaz Heraner one of founders of Ketabraneh read her poem entitle “Woman”:
“I have seen your tender resistance,
When you smiled and stood tall,
As the mother earth, since your birth.
In the midst of bloody wars,
For the value of your voice or the scars,
Or your trampled rights,
In a world yet so masculine,
For the dignity of your daughter,
The confidence of your man,
Or the strength of your son,
You've shone like the mighty sun.
No matter the color, no matter the size,
You have yelled:
I must've known,
I must've believed,
I am no longer a female,
I've become a woman
And I am no longer frail.”
Then the ceremony continued by Ms. Popak Nasri’s guitar performance along with poem recitation by Mr. Amir Yanaghi.
Lunching of new logo of Ketabraneh by graphic designer Shahryar Razeghi and new album of musician and singer Omid Hojjat entitled “Peace and love” marked the end of the International Women’s Day ceremony at Ketabraneh.
UN publications, including posters with SDGs icons in Persian were distributed to the participants.
