Discussion on Issues of Social Justice

TEHRAN – On the occasion of the World Day of Social Justice, International Studies Journal (ISJ) in partnership with Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) and UNIC Tehran held the conference on the Interactions of Transitional Justice and International Humanitarian Law, at IRCS on 9 March 2017. The ISJ Editor-in-Chief Dr. Mehdi Zakerian greeted the audience. UNIC Director Maria Dotsenko said that social justice is an underlying principle for peaceful and prosperous coexistence within and among nations. “We uphold the principles of social justice when we promote gender equality or the rights of indigenous peoples and migrants. We advance social justice when we remove barriers that people face because of gender, age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture or disability,” she added.

Some 60 intellectuals participate in the World Day of Social Justice Seminar
UNIC Director further said for the UN, the pursuit of social justice for all is at the core of its global mission to promote development and human dignity.

She said that the observance of World Day of Social Justice should support efforts of the international community in poverty eradication, the promotion of full employment and decent work, gender equity and access to social well-being and justice for all.

The one-day conference continued its work by holding different panel discussions during which university professors, post graduate students and experts presented the summary of their research papers to some 60 participants, who came from different parts of the country.
