2 May 2017-- UN’s participation in the Tehran International Book Fair is a unique opportunity not only to share with public some fresh UN publications and multimedia materials, but also to explain about UN work in Iran.
UN system in Iran for the 14th year participates in the Tehran International Book Fair. The Book Fair is held at Shar-e Aftab (Sun City) from May 3rd till May 13. UN booth is located at the International Hall of Shahr-e Aftab close to the City Bank (Bank-e Shahr).
This year the agencies represented in the UN booth are Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), International Organization for Migration (IOM), UN Development Programme (UNDP), UN Population Fund (UNFPA), UN-Habitat, UN Information Centre (UNIC) and World Health Organization (WHO).
UN Resident Coordinator Mr. Gary Lewis will deliver a speech on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on Thursday 4 May 2017 at the F-2 Hall, Scientific and Cultural Penmen House (Sara-ye Ahl-e Ghalam Elmi-Farhangi) at 14:00 to 15:30.
Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Dr. Ali Larijani and Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Dr. Reza Salehi Amiri spoke at the opening ceremony of the 30th Tehran International Book Fair, which was held today, May 2nd.
The inaugural ceremony was also attended by a number of Iranian officials, foreign guests and diplomats as well as major domestic and foreign writers and publishers.
“Let’s read one more book” is the slogan of this year’s Book Fair.
UN appreciates the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance with regards to the space, provided for the UN booth.
